A Community Champion is a person who collaborates with a variety of partners to strengthen school, business, and non-profit relationships for the benefit of the community and our students.
Congratulations to SAMS' Winter Community Champion, Michele Clukey!
For more than two decades, Ms Clukey has been a piece of the heart and soul of the SAMS community. Whether it’s comforting a sick student, finding warm clothes through community partners, packing food bags for families, or offering a snack and a smile, she always shows up with compassion and care. Students and staff alike know her as someone who will listen, comfort, and help without hesitation.
Her acts of kindness have grown into lasting community connections: from the food bag program, making sure families are supported through the holidays, to the clothing closet; known as “Clukey’s Closet.” She has literally given the coat off her own family's back to make sure a student stays warm, and her generosity has inspired others to do the same.
Her kindness is contagious, her spirit unwavering, and her impact is immeasurable. She is a mother, a grandmother, a community bridge-builder, and a spirit of Skowhegan pride.
